A NEW ADDRESS

Hi Guys !

It’s been quite a lull around here for past few months. But I promise this post comes with a good news : )

Serendipity has moved to a new address. It’s more personal and so much more for you and not just photos. However, I love WordPress and my blog here (since it’s my first home on the web) so I will keep this space for an exciting new personal project in the pipeline : )

So head up to the new place for SERENDIPITY  and I would love to hear how do you guys love/not so much love the new look : )

BLACK AND WHITE

One day I really wish to document a wedding in only black and white and possibly on Ilford : )

But meanwhile here are some other black and white images.

shimla timesDaisy and Nikhil’s wedding venue, Shimla. February 2015.

And amidst the beautiful Shimla hills I met Kismet of The Unreal Bride

It was rather a beautiful surprise that the couple booked us both seperatly : ) And it was nothing but such a joy working with her. I hope to bump into her more often !

kismet

Also met Mehlum on his yet another trip to India. We went wandering about on the streets on Bombay and took these few pictures of him.

These pictures are taken by Nikon 50mm 1.2 which is a manual focus lens. And I am absolutely in love with it !

It was my second time shooting with Nikon and I might just be tipping towards it, just like Ram Balmur who recently switched his whole Canon equipment to Nikon. I think I will follow suit sometime : ) Though I still have to do my homework for it.

Mehlum

We met again at Banganga and here is the set of images he took of me on his Tumblr page.

I haven’t been posting much of wedding work here but I am behind editing 8 weddings and so many many more updates.

Next post will be a glimpse of the beautiful couples I got to meet.

Also I have been working on a brand ideology for “Serendipity” and also possibly a new look for the blog. But I am too attached to the current layout so you guys can help me make a decision.

Till then, love!

A WEDDING LIKE NO OTHER

One fine day I get a very sweet mail request from this boy for couple portraits. And we go back and forth on it but the schedules don’t match and a lot other things and it finally didn’t work out.
Fast forward to last month ( one year later ). I get another mail from the same boy asking if I would be available to document their wedding.
It is nothing but humbling when people world over connect to you because they like your work and keep coming back!
It is a wedding like no other because the couple is so effervescent and full of life and it was such an unusually beautiful wedding day for me.

This is the second court wedding that I have shot. And the spaces are quite interesting, edgy but make a beautiful backdrop.

CHENNAI TIMES

My visit to Chennai was a good start to 2015. I always wanted to visit South India after extensively visiting the North, East and West, and finally got this chance.

It was a packed schedule of six days with three weddings to document. I shot my first Muslim wedding and second shot with the ever-so-awesome photographer Varun Suresh. You all will get to see the weddings in upcoming blog posts but a few shots from a personal project are below. I am trying to document as many patterns of nature as possible. And I am quite happy with the images I got here in Chennai.

Egg, one of the bride’s cat. She was tiny and comfortably sitting in an oval shape when they first saw, so instantly named her Egg.

I also had a chance to meet and work with this wonderful team of cinematographers from Chennai, Anvitha & Naveen. You can see their work on Vimeo. Anvitha and me have been friends for quite sometime now and had met her only in 2010. It was really nice meeting and working with her.

Anvitha Naveen Chennai 2015

I managed a glimpse of the beautiful land of Tamil Nadu, so many sights, tastes and emotions to soak in. I missed visiting Marina Beach, may be thats for my next visit. I visited the beautiful Kapaleeshwarar Temple and it literally took my breath away. Southern architecture also known as Dravidian architecture has always fascinated me.

Chennai Auto. The driver was cleaning up his auto and I asked him if he could park the auto in the spot I wanted and he happily did : )

My love for South India is not limited just to architecture but extends into sarees, jewellery and food too. Early on I had started collecting silk sarees which have become an inseperable part of me. I am also saving up for temple jewellery.

Anvitha graciously agreed to take me to Nalli. A visiting to Nalli’s oldest shop (since 1928) was definitely on top of my list. I was in a wonderland!

I had a chance to visit one of the oldest breakfast place Saravana Bhawan and loved the chutneys they served. However the idlis and dosas of Murugan Idli Shop are so much better. I think they should team up and cook what they are best at !

I also got a chance to dine at Mahamudra by Isha life. It is a boutique restaurant and I would highly recommend for healthy and wholesome eating.

I am really hoping to go back soon and probably visit surrounding places like Dakshin Chitra, Pondicherry and Sri Lanka! So any of you plan to get married here, I will happily book my tickets !

I will leave you all here by wishing you a very Happy New year ! Times are passing by too quickly ! I have no idea what 2015 has in store for me but I am looking to explore more in terms of a visual artist. I am also hoping for more travel.

And also give way to a special project that I have been working on for quite sometime now, a new blog perhaps shall see the light soon !

LOVE IS FOUND

This effervescent bride got in touch just a week before her ceremony and I am so glad I could make it. This would be my first time shooting in Amravati.

Amravati is the hometown of number of politicians including our ex-president Pratibha Patil. Being a Political Science student I am always interested in visiting/discussing political scenarios around the state.

Here are a few photographs from their ceremony.

BRIGHTER THAN SUNSHINE

I need to confess that I honestly did nothing in this photo-session. But just got lucky by being there and witnessing this utterly gorgeous family!

We took a few pictures in the nearby garden and thought of resting a little bit and return back in sometime. I went up to their house and the light was so so beautiful that I thought of continuing the photo-session.

HAPPY LITTLE BOY

Nishka found my blog as she herself is regular at blogging scene. She contacted me sometime back when she was in Dubai.

After months of keeping in touch and going to and fro on dates we finally freezed on Anay’s birthday for the family session. And luckily they were going to be in Bombay then!

Anay has the most charming smile I have seen, isn’t he a darling!

Windows happen to be my favourite spot to shoot! Since I am not too fond of artificial lighting, I make best use of the gorgeous big window lights!
