My visit to Chennai was a good start to 2015. I always wanted to visit South India after extensively visiting the North, East and West, and finally got this chance.

It was a packed schedule of six days with three weddings to document. I shot my first Muslim wedding and second shot with the ever-so-awesome photographer Varun Suresh. You all will get to see the weddings in upcoming blog posts but a few shots from a personal project are below. I am trying to document as many patterns of nature as possible. And I am quite happy with the images I got here in Chennai.

Egg, one of the bride’s cat. She was tiny and comfortably sitting in an oval shape when they first saw, so instantly named her Egg.

I also had a chance to meet and work with this wonderful team of cinematographers from Chennai, Anvitha & Naveen. You can see their work on Vimeo. Anvitha and me have been friends for quite sometime now and had met her only in 2010. It was really nice meeting and working with her.

Anvitha Naveen Chennai 2015

I managed a glimpse of the beautiful land of Tamil Nadu, so many sights, tastes and emotions to soak in. I missed visiting Marina Beach, may be thats for my next visit. I visited the beautiful Kapaleeshwarar Temple and it literally took my breath away. Southern architecture also known as Dravidian architecture has always fascinated me.

Chennai Auto. The driver was cleaning up his auto and I asked him if he could park the auto in the spot I wanted and he happily did : )

My love for South India is not limited just to architecture but extends into sarees, jewellery and food too. Early on I had started collecting silk sarees which have become an inseperable part of me. I am also saving up for temple jewellery.

Anvitha graciously agreed to take me to Nalli. A visiting to Nalli’s oldest shop (since 1928) was definitely on top of my list. I was in a wonderland!

I had a chance to visit one of the oldest breakfast place Saravana Bhawan and loved the chutneys they served. However the idlis and dosas of Murugan Idli Shop are so much better. I think they should team up and cook what they are best at !

I also got a chance to dine at Mahamudra by Isha life. It is a boutique restaurant and I would highly recommend for healthy and wholesome eating.

I am really hoping to go back soon and probably visit surrounding places like Dakshin Chitra, Pondicherry and Sri Lanka! So any of you plan to get married here, I will happily book my tickets !

I will leave you all here by wishing you a very Happy New year ! Times are passing by too quickly ! I have no idea what 2015 has in store for me but I am looking to explore more in terms of a visual artist. I am also hoping for more travel.

And also give way to a special project that I have been working on for quite sometime now, a new blog perhaps shall see the light soon !

Love !

Nivedita and Sagar wanted to document this special phase in their life and I am so glad they thought of me ! Nivedita was going too have her Bengali Baby Shower “Shaad” and I have never got a chance to witness one so I thought of scheduling their Maternity shoot on the Shaad Day so I could see the ceremony and also take pictures!

Those who know me would know how much I am fond of the whole bengali culture and the Calcutta city in particular ! I was extremely excited for the Shaad ceremony and the Bengali food : )

Nivedita looked absolutely divine and the whole transformation from the dresses to the traditional Bengali saree made way to these beautiful images.

Hmmm…Heaven !

Her mum is a vision to behold ! I was so eager for her pictures after I had seen her at their wedding and didn’t leave a chance to take her pictures. I am guilty of sidelining the couple because Nivedita’s mum had all my attention !

You see the beauty runs in the family ! Nivedita with her sister Annindita !

I am excited for the baby due this month ! And excited more to schedule a photo-session with the baby in tow !

Excited to have another “Rosogulla” in the family ! : )

Shraddha a friend and a super talented photographer contacted me via Facebook to take some pictures for her sister’s wedding. The brief was very simple, documenting the wedding and looking for pictures that normally photographers miss. The wedding was a four day long event with very interesting line-up.

Day 1: Rehersal dinner at the Chickoo Baug. This is the part that I was very excited about and very nervous too. Excited because the rehearsal dinner was hosted at 50yrs old Chickoo Baug with lush thick trees. And nervous because of the light but it ended up being the most magical evening I have witnessed.

Very magical four days documenting the bliss and love within the family and how much the farm means to them. I had such a beautiful time.

Thank you !

The available natural light plays a very important role in the photographs I take.

Mostly because I absolutely hate working with artificial lights.  Initially the hate was because of the fear and not understanding how to use them well but I am learning it now and it’s not that difficult. I did use a bit of artificial light in the following pictures and I am pretty happy with the results. The light doesn’t over-power the subject so that makes me happy.

I was contacted by the parents to take pictures of their 3-month old daughter. It was lovely to see the parents again after I took pictures at their wedding : )

Happy little baby!

I am so glad for this opportunity to take pictures of Baby P. So glad she didn’t fret much and was a happy baby throughout : )

Looking forward for my next picture-taking day with Baby P and her parents.

Love !

I have always wondered  what makes a “stable relationship” or what makes a relationship “stable” !

Just something about a relationship between a man and woman, woman and a woman, man and a man !

I am always always intrigued by this idea of love. Isn’t it something that makes us wake up with joy and makes us sleep sad at times ?

Just so many many people around me get together and fall apart, but just something about the “eternity” moves me. I am not saying that people should stay together if they are not meant to be but just, just people make things work, put an effort to something what they started is something that always moves me.

I don’t follow any “celebrity” stuff but hey if its wisdom, I don’t mind looking at it. I read this beautiful piece of love letter by Brad Pitt and its lovely. I dont know if he has actually written it but I would not be surprised if he really has written it. After this letter I googled them a bit and found some really lovely images Brad took of Angelina for W.

“My wife got sick.  She was constantly nervous because of problems at work, personal life, her failures and problems with children.

She has lost 30 pounds and weighed about 90 pounds in her 35 years. She got very skinny, and was constantly crying. She was not a happy woman. She had suffered from continuing headaches, heart pain and jammed nerves in her back and ribs.

She did not sleep well, falling asleep only in the morning and got tired very quickly during the day. Our relationship was on the verge of break up.

Her beauty was leaving her somewhere, she had bags under her eyes, she was poking her head, and stopped taking care of herself. She refused to shoot the films and rejected any role.

I lost hope and thought that we’ll get divorced soon…But then I decided to act on it.
After all I’ve got the most beautiful woman on the earth.

She is the idol of more than half of men and women on earth, and I was the one allowed to fall asleep next to her and to hug her shoulders.

I began to pamper her with flowers, kisses and compliments. I surprised her and pleased her every minute. I gave her lots of gifts and lived just for her. I spoke in public only about her. I incorporated all themes in her direction. I praised her in front of her own and our mutual friends.

You won’t believe it, but she blossomed. She became even better than before. She gained weight, was no longer nervous and she loved me even more than ever. I had no clue that she CAN love that much. And then I realized one thing: The woman is the reflection of her man. If you love her to the point of madness, she will become it.“

It’s sweet, aint it ?! And all of these thoughts coming around our first anniversary was a bit of a mulling feeling. Mulling but peace inducing. You know, the kind of feeling that just quietly brings smile to your face. I love being in love and I don’t remember my time when I was not in love. The kind of love that just gives you peace and you dont have to think about if  it will be a forever, he/she is cheating or not, lying or not etc… The kind of love that just really liberates you, allows you to evolve to a better self. Exactly the kind of love I feel for Haruki Murakami literature. Even his name gives me an orgasmic sigh. This feeling is exactly the kind of feeling I will get if I am ever able to write a book that is half as good as what G writes. He inspires me.

Doing something going beyond your measure is what makes human, human. You and I are made to fight  for that littlest beautiful thing in life, love. Love for your dog, love for your phone. Love for your work, love for your really old jeans. Love for your camera, love for the photographs you make. Love for his/her hands, love for the perfume. If your are gonna do it, do it till it exhausts you (Sounds cheeky : P) but hell yes, do it till it exhausts you completely!

I know I have been completely missing in action. I apologize for all the pending mail replies, I promise I will get back today, you are on my agenda. Just the above thoughts + first anniversary + travels have kept me busy but I am here now. I will finish all my work before the holidays weekend, awaiting the New Years !

Here’s wishing you all beautiful, intimate, intricate and elaborate love with someone absolutely right for you !

I have found mine !

One more thing that I am excited about is that December is here and it is vacation time!

G and me are on a vacation for next half of the month starting 15th. I have planned a surprise trip for G and me for our anniversary. But looks like I am terrible at planning surprises when you have a very intelligent and a very doting husband around so I guess he knows it but he is being very kind and putting up an act of “not knowing”.

So I guess this will be my last post in December but I am gonna try and write just one more before we go . Have you guys planned up for the new years, things you are looking forward to in the new year, tell me about it !

Its the new time of the year, a whole new begginning!

The most heartfelt Happy New Year to all of you! (I know I am a lil late in the second month of the year but as they say its never too late for good things.)

Every year around this, I am on a contemplating phase, hoping for growth, renewal and change. Likewise, this blog sees a change, a huge change that I see coming to my life. All the earlier posts on this blog are deleted giving way to everything new because I really feel I just made it busy and completely un-original. A new wave is coming!

I have been completely busy past few months with my wedding. I got married last december on 26th to a wonderful man. We got engaged in May followed by a December wedding. You can read all about it here.

Its a whole new life post marriage. Balancing work, with all new relationships, new responsibilities etcetra. Its a blessing to have G by my side. He does a lot many things but prefers to be known as a copy-writer. I am happy I get to read his stories.

I am also making some changes here keeping the basic format decided for this blog. I want this blog to reflect where I am in life is my aim writing and documenting here.
